Examples of slipcases and binders

Below are views of a binder and a slipcase.

I put 12 copies of "Biggles Flies Again" into the binder. The first half dozen went in easily, but it does become a little more difficult after that because of the difficulty of keeping the binder flat once there are nice fat magazines in it. There are actually 15 cordex strips, so if you wanted to fiddle around a bit more, you might get 15 magazines in the binder.

Once the magazines are in the binder, I think I would be reluctant to take one out because of the problem of getting it back in again. With the slipcases, this will not happen. Depends what you want. I like to be able to remove a magazine and pop it into my bag, because I mostly read on the move, on trains etc. If you are reading them at home, you can do so without removing the magazine from the binder. The full binder weighs over a kilo, so you would probably need to rest it on a desk for reading.

The main difference in my eyes is that the binder does not give the magazines the almost all round protection offered by the slipcase. The sides of the magazines are protected, but not the top and bottom. However, I think either of the options - slipcases or binders - will be a useful additon to my bookshelves.

----------------------------------

We are considering providing slipcases or binders for our magazines. Which we go for, either or both, depends on the demand from you, so please let us know which, if either, you are interested in. The cost depends on how many are ordered, so the more we can order the cheaper they are. So please say which you would like, binders or slipcases, and how many you might order.

The examples shown are currently used by other societies. We would have our own foil blocked artwork on them.

Slipcases are open on one side only, so provide good protection. One or more magazines can be removed to read as required. Binders open up like a book, the magazines being held by individual Cordex retainers.

We are currently considering binders and slipcases from: http://www.modernbookbinders.com/index.html

Anyone who wishes to suggest another company, please give me the website address so we can check them out as well.
